Top Design Trends 2018
Standing out from the crowd as a female creative can be tough in 2018. I’ve been looking at the top design trends 2018 for feminine businesses, to help you know what’s going to be hot this year.
1. Colour Transitions
Colour transitions, or gradients to everyone else, are back in. However, we’re not talking about the gradients of the 90s which are still out. We’re talking about more vibrant and subtler transitions that add depth. Flat design is going out, and colour transitions are in.
2. Strong Patterns
Bold patterns that have strong vintage vibes are becoming even more prominent in 2018. From botanicals to animals, they are primarily taking over the food and drink industry. They are great for representing Artisan brands who are looking to stand out boldly.
3. Serif is back
Thin sans serif has been the leader in typography for too long, and I am personally excited to see serif back. Typography in 2018 is getting big and bold, and serif is playing a large part of new designs. They mainly look beautiful when paired with calligraphy fonts for a soft feminine look.
4. Illustration
Custom illustrations are the new it girl of top design trends, 2018. From soft watercolour flowers to strong line drawings of mountains, they help bring a personal touch to any brand. They are unique and can create an intense visual look that speaks a thousand words when used in the right context.
5. Bold Colours
Brands are moving away from soft pastels towards stronger more vibrant colours that stand out. It’s especially true of females creatives where the market is saturated with soft tones. Adding a touch of bold to a classic clean look can make a lasting impression.
6. Minimalism
Even though bold colours, large designs and illustrations are in, minimalism is still going strong. The classic look of minimalism never ages, and that’s why it will stay a strong look for a lot of brands.
One thing to always remember is that sometimes your brand has to update with the market and having a base minimal design makes this much more manageable.
Whatever the top design trends 2018, you should always have a brand that represents you and your business’ personality. Find out more about branding for your small business.
